CRISPR is a multifaceted tool that can be used in a variety of scenarios. Its limits are endless and do not stop at just the snip. The variety of gene modification proposed is promising for those looking to end certain genetic diseases.

Gene Insertion

Gene insertion is the "introduction of a DNA sequence that triggers the cell to produce a necessary protein or perform another required function".

Gene Repair

Often times, genetic diseases occur because if a faulty genetic mutation at 1 point in the genome occurs. Thanks to CRISPR, we are now able to go in and correct that disease-causing sequence.

Gene Silencing

In gene silencing techniques, a KRAB domain is fused to the Cas9 protein and inactivates transcription by recruiting more factors that physically block the gene.Theoretically, the part of the sequence that was blocked should not be expressed.
